Frame colour matcher

The right frame colour works with your skin and hair, not against them. Answer two quick questions and see the colours that will flatter you most.

Your skin undertone

Not sure? Check your wrist in daylight: greenish veins lean warm, blue or purple veins lean cool, and a mix is neutral. Gold jewellery flatters warm, silver flatters cool.

Your hair colour

Pick both to see your frame colours.

How to choose frame colour for your skin tone

The short answer: match the frame colour to your skin's undertone. Warm undertones suit tortoiseshell, gold, honey, and warm browns; cool undertones suit black, silver, grey, and jewel tones; neutral undertones can wear almost anything. Hair colour fine-tunes it, and shape still comes first.

Undertone How to tell Best frame colours
Warm Greenish wrist veins, gold jewellery flatters, skin has golden or peachy warmth Tortoiseshell, gold, honey, warm brown, olive
Cool Blue or purple wrist veins, silver jewellery flatters, skin has pink or blue undertones Black, silver, grey, navy, plum, rose
Neutral A mix of both, neither gold nor silver clearly wins Tortoiseshell, black, grey, green, blush
From our test bench. The colour rule is real, but it is a nudge, not a law. On real faces, contrast matters as much as undertone: high-contrast colouring carries bold frames, softer colouring is flattered by gentler tones. When in doubt, tortoiseshell suits the widest range of people we test.

Frame colour FAQ

How do I know my skin undertone?

Check your wrist veins in daylight: greenish leans warm, blue or purple leans cool, a mix is neutral. Another test is jewellery, gold flatters warm undertones and silver flatters cool.

What frame colour suits everyone?

Tortoiseshell. Its mixed warm browns are softer than solid black and blend with most skin and hair colours, which is why it is the most versatile frame finish.

Does hair colour change the frame colour?

It fine-tunes it. Darker hair carries bold, deep frames; lighter hair suits softer neutrals; red and auburn love warm browns and greens; grey and silver look sharp against cool tones and black.

Should I pick colour or shape first?

Shape first. Shape decides how the frame flatters your face; colour is the finishing touch. Choose a shape that suits your face shape, then pick a colour that works with your undertone.
